Richard Haine is a founding partner at frog environmental; he is a Chartered Manager of Water & the Environment and has been working around aquatic environments since 2005.

Although his first career choice as a rock star didn’t quite go according to plan, Richard can still be found playing bass guitar or sat in front of a piano when he has time to relax.

As well as being a water quality expert, Richard oversees business development and programme delivery of BioHaven® Floating Wetland projects across the EU. This involves Richard in the heady and mysterious world of international shipping, something that he hopes one day to fully understand.

Richard has been a key advisor on many river restoration projects, including the regeneration of the Bow Back Rivers, which formed a focal point for the Olympic Park in London.

With many years experience working in both urban and rural catchments, Richard understands the associated land use pressures on these different catchment types. As a qualified CEEQUAL assessor he also works with clients to improve the sustainability of projects through their design, construction and long-term operation.

When he’s not at work and not reliving his rock star dreams, Richard is a keen traveller, having visited around 70 countries. His travel plans for the future include sailing the Atlantic, cycling the Silk Road and a visit to the Antarctic. One of his favorite travel experiences so far has been coming face to face with a 9 metre long whale shark in the Philippines, which he cites as ‘an amazing hangover cure’.
