Road construction usually involves large areas of land. Issues arise because during construction vegetation is stripped, earth is moved, and in this case, material is piled in areas of high slope.
The result is a highly erosive area that must be contained to protect surrounding natural areas such as streams, rivers and lakes.
Best practice measures including silt fencing and straw matting were already implemented to manage erosion however these were insufficient and the site was subject to a breach in regulation for causing water pollution. Clearflow brought the site into compliance by modifying the ditches to include Soil Lynx treated geo jute covered rock checks and the stream banks.
